Lars MikkelsenWhen he was 27, he enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark from which he was graduated in the year 1995. In addition to his role in the drama series that was released worldwide as The Killing, he subsequently was a part of two other critically highly acclaimed Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He also played a prominent part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV series House of Cards, he was the president of Russia. He received an International Emmy Award for 2018 for his performance on the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was shown in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. Mikkelsen is fluent in English, Swedish and German. He also has various accents. According to Mikkelsen's sources that he and his younger brother were taught English through Monty Python records.
